Zonal Economic & Agriculture Development Coordinator- Eastern

Location – Based outstation with frequent travel to other offices (Eastern Zone)


The position will act as a ‘Think Tank’ to provide World Vision Lanka (WVL) with strategic guidelines & technical support on Economic and Agriculture Development models and guide WVL’s program/project approaches towards the overall well being of children. The position will liaise with the National Office technical specialist, ensuring technical expertise reach the field operations and integration of EAD components in relevant project/programs He/she will facilitate & coordinator research, surveys, technical feasibility studies, capacity building, monitoring progress and dissemination of information among the relevant stakeholders. This position will maintain strategic partnerships with the relevant Line Ministries, Corporate partners, NGO’s, INGO’s ensuring WVL programs/projects contribution towards the Economic & Agriculture Development of Government policies/ processors.


  • Formulation, implementation and monitoring of the secondary strategy of EAD in alignment with WVL’s national strategy and Government policies

  • Networking, partnerships & close collaboration with relevant Line Ministries, NGO’s, INGO’s, Private Sector other partners relevant to Agriculture & Economic Development (EAD)

  • Knowledge management and dissemination of best practices and lessons learnt (internally & externally)

  • Training field staff, volunteers and other stakeholders on Economic & Agriculture Development models for the implementation and facilitation, participation in the stakeholder orientation programmes.

  • Prepare monthly or other reports which deem necessary by management.

  • Technical advice to be given on EAD for projects and programmes as and when necessary


  • Degree in Agriculture or Economic Development

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in either Agriculture or Economic Development sectors

  • Ability to cope in harsh working environments

  • Knowledge and experience of holistic community development would be an added advantage

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills

  • Fluent in English and the local language (reading and writing)

  • Computer literate in MS packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email systems)

  • Good reporting & facilitation skills

  • Ability work well in a cross-cultural work environment & commitment to abide by WV Core values and Mission Statement.
