Vacancy - Accounts Assistant
Locations: To be based in Nuwaraeliya
The Accounts Assistant will perform a variety of regular and recurring accounting functions, including establishing accounting records and maintaining the general books of accounts, assist in the procurement of goods and services as required while ensuring adherence to world vision policies and government regulations. In addition he/she will also:
Assist the Field Accountant to carryout day to day finance activities to ensure the smooth functioning of the programmes/projects
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of vouchers, regularizing documentation and filing of finance/accounting related documentation for on-line finance transactions.
Assist the Field Accountant to prepare the financial reports, cover memo, advances & payable aging analysis, update the asset register, perform day to day banking, .,
Ensure fundamental finance policies and procedures are in place as per the instructions given by the Accountant.
Required qualifications, experience & competencies
Part qualification of AAT or similar qualification OR GCE Advance Level in Commerce stream with Accounts as a subject and pursuing Accounting/Finance related professional qualification
At least one year of financial experience in a similar capacity
Experience in using Microsoft office, with good knowledge of MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Good oral & written communication skills in English and the local language Sinhala/Tamil as required
Demonstrated commitment to World Vision values & philosophy
Fast learner with an aptitude for IT & able to work well in a computerized environment
·Ability to be deployed to the field at short notice (especially during a disaster response)
