ASSISTAN ACCOUNTANT- ARISE Project
Location –To be based in Ambanpola (Kurunegala District)
We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant for our Agricultural and Rural Investments for Social Enterprises (ARISE)Project, which aims to improve economic well-being of small-scale agricultural entrepreneurs and producers in the target region, especially women, youth and marginalized people living in poverty through providing loans to selected small and growing businesses (SGBs).
Ideal candidate will perform a variety of regular and recurring functions to support the overall financial management of ARISE Projects in the preparation of periodical financial reports accurately, assisting procurement, monitoring budgets etc, maximising effective & efficient use of the computer based Accounting Information Systems & tools operative within World Vision. He/She should ensure good stewardship and accountability of financial operations of the project in line with the project requirements, establishing accounting records and maintaining the general books of accounts, ensuring that World Vision policies and statutory requirements. In addition he/she will also
Ensure accurate, complete and timely processing of data done with proper authorization of all financial transactions relating to the ADP & its Projects
Provide financial/administrative support to ensure high quality, accuracy and consistency of work in program/project implementation.
Ensure that the day to day operational procedures in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, audit etc., are conducted in a timely manner and in line with WVL Policy and Procedure.
Assist the Project Managers, in monitoring project budget in line with the Project Plan of Action.
Provide financial & analytical reports /information useful for decision makers , as and when required in line with organisational requirements and grant/project schedules/guidelines
Required qualifications, experience & competencies
University degree in Finance or Accounting OR Part qualification in a recognised professional accounting body,
1 years’experience in finance/accounting in a similar capacity preferably with exposure operating computer-based Accounting Information systems.
Thorough knowledge of computer applications including MS Office with good knowledge of MS Excel and Database applications. Experience in Sun System will be an advantage
Good oral and written communication skills in English and Sinhala
Thorough and demonstrated knowledge in accounting principles and financial system;
Good analytical and presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
