DRIVER – (Adverse South West Monsoon Response)
Location: To be based in Ratnapura, Kalutara & Galle with extensive travel
Period: July to October 2017
World Vision Lanka (WVL) together with its Project partners UNICEF, OFDA (USAID) & IOM is seeking to recruit qualified individuals for its Adverse South West Monsoon Response project. The project aims to assist communities affected by the landslides and floods to support their recovery efforts, specifically through rehabilitation of essential WASH infrastructure. In addition the project will carry out hygiene related interventions to compliment and prevent spread of disease among the affected communities.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Administration Assistant will provide a wide range of administrative and logistics support services for World Vision Lanka and the project team in the delivery of project goals and objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Be in charge of the vehicle assigned to the project & discharge duties as assigned
Maintain excellent driving skills in handling the vehicle assigned to the project with highest priority for personal safety and care of all passengers.
Ensure safety and care for other vehicles and pedestrians
Adhere to prevailing traffic rules, regulations and WV Lanka policies & procedures
Maintain highest standard in cleanliness of the vehicle assigned to the project at all times.
Maintain an effective system in monitoring - vehicle movement, vehicle repairs & replacement of spare parts/tyres, fuel consumption, Emission test, revenue license, vehicle insurance.
Provide administrative and logistical support to the Project Manager and the Team as needed.
Provide assistance to the team in the purchasing procedure
Provide vehicle maintenance reports to National Office Logistics department on time.
Assist with any other duties as assigned by Project Manager.
Required qualifications, experience & competencies
G.C.E. (O/L) or equivalent qualifications.
Possess a sound knowledge in motor mechanism
A good knowledge in all major in-country roadways.
A minimum of five years experience as driver with a proven record.
Ability to drive long distances, late hours and work under pressure.
Ability to discharge duties politely with respect for authority.
Possess a valid driving license for heavy vehicles (‘A Class)
Fully conversant with prevalent Motor Traffic Laws, rules and regulations.
Should be a tee-totaller, non-smoker and/or non-addict to any other habits such as chewing betel.
Should possess a sound knowledge in Sinhala and/or Tamil with ability to understand English.
Should bear an unblemished record in excellent conduct and character.
