Agriculture Enterprise Officer – EU Livelihood Project (CSO/LA)
Location: To be based in Mahiyanganaya ( Rideemaliyadda ADP) with 50% travel
(Areas to be covered Rideemaliyadda, Meegahakiula & Kandakettiya)
World Vision Lanka (WVL) seeks to recruit An Agriculture Enterprise Officer to facilitate the implementation of all activities under the EU funded“Bringing the community on Board”Project (BCoB): to strengthen the role of Civil Society Organizations and Local Authorities (CSO/LA’s) in increasing the economic resilience of communities, working in collaboration with the project partners and the relevant local institutions in the area of operation in line with the grant agreement & World Vision Lanka (WVL) policies & procedures. This grant agreement has been signed between the Delegation of the European Union for Sri Lanka and the Maldives and World Vision Germany. World Vision Lanka is the co- applicant of this project and implements this three years project in Badulla District (Ridimaliyadda, Kandaketiya and Meegahakiula Divisions) in the Uva Province in Sri Lanka.
Under the direct supervisor of Project Manager, the Agriculture Enterprise Officer, will be responsible for the implementation of Agriculture enterprise related activities of the Project, in the Uva Province. In addition the position will:
Take a lead in the value chain analysis process of the project & act as the market facilitator enabling the creation of market linkages for farmer groups
Working in collaboration with the technical units & the relevant stakeholders develop implementation models, delivery mechanism and approaches, facilitate the strengthening of Civil Society Organisations and promote inclusive sustainable economic development in line with the grant agreement and WV policies and procedures
Organise & conduct training & awareness raising on capacity building, Agriculture Technology, Infrastructure Development, Small Group formation, Sustainable Integrated Farming System and Agriculture Marketing for farmer development
Maintain & update detailed records of all project activities & submit required reports in a timely manner in accordance with the grant requirements & WV policies & procedures
Required key qualifications, experience & competencies
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related discipline with related experience
Experience in community development, livelihood, infrastructure and capacity building of Civil Society Organizations and Local Authorities (CSO’s & LA)
Skills in project implementation and knowledge of CSOs/LA
Knowledge & experience in handling EU Projects and WV system will be preferred
Good mobilization and facilitation skills
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel ,PowerPoint
Good communication skills in English and Sinhala both verbal & written
Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and collaboration skills
Understanding of the local context & demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
Commitment to World Vision values & capacity to engage with broader community in living these values
