DIRECTOR – GRANTS ACQUISITION
Location: To be based in Colombo with travel
Provide leadership in the development of the Grant Acquisition and Management capacity of WVL through donor engagement, pre-positioning and strengthening of the WVL donor base to enhance & retain government, multi-lateral donors through well-coordinated resource acquisition efforts that focus on WVL’s programmatic priorities and strategic objectives. Working in collaboration with the corporate partnership development unit the position will be responsible for maximizing and diversifying the funding & resource base of WVL for its programmatic priorities.
The Grants Acquisition Group brings together several key support functions, and includes, External Relations with Government and the Non-Government sector. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director for Grants Acquisition will develop appropriate mechanism consistent with WV Lanka, Partnership and Regional Policies, Guidelines and Objectives. The role will provide critical support to the National Director in strengthening his/her ability to engage all stakeholders effectively, and will support all other key ministry areas for effective program implementation and enhance quality of ministry
Key Result Area
Strategic Alignment: Communicates, and aligns WVL Grants Acquisition strategy within the framework of national strategy of WV Lanka and Partnership strategy.
Leadership: Strong leadership which creates an environment orientated to trust, open communication, creative thinking & cohesive team effort despite internal and external pressures.
Functional Integration:Strong Integration with other functions within WV Lanka and partnership..
Critical Thinking and Judgment:Uses data, experience, and good judgment to make sound decisions and devise effective solutions to problems. Assesses and manages risk in own work.
Preferred Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Degree or equivalent qualification in International Development, Economics, Business or any related field with a minimum of 5 years’experience in portfolio management/business development and related experience preferably in a INGO/Bilateral Agency
Proven experience in a leadership/management position in a complex, international organisation preferably in INGO context preferred
Demonstrated prior success in grant submissions inclusive of engagement with corporate partners
Experience working with Govt/Institutions partners, gained through a consulting company, international or community development agencies in the development sector
Good communication & presentation skills in English & the ability to communicate in Sinhala and/or Tamil.
Ability to think strategically and innovatively, constantly pursuing new and better ways of working
Demonstrated commitment to World Vision’s values and philosophy, and capacity to engage with the broader community in living these values
