Design Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant

Location – Nuwaraeliya with up to 40% travel

Job Profile

The purpose of this position is to support DME processes within the AP structure of Nuwara Eliya Programme and assist to create quality DME products and provide timely feedback to the Area Programme to achieve its programme objectives. This position will play a supporting role to the AP MEAL Coordinator in developing databases, gathering monitoring evidence and examining the requirements according to the DME standards. This position will also support the team in coordinating the logistic needs for monitoring and evaluation assessments.

Major Responsibilities

Maintaining LEAP Cycle & CWB standards

  • Smooth function of M&E systems and processes at programme impact areas

  • Evidence-based decision-making facilitated through Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) processes in programme impact areas

  • Quality and timely submission of disaggregated information from impact areas for the completion of Program Management reports (Semi-Annual Reports/Annual Reports) ensured

  • Updated beneficiary tracking database aligned with the completed programme activities

  • Storing of semi-annual and annual evidence for indicator achievement for future programme evaluations and researches

Facilitate reflections and learning for knowledge management

  • Support the implementation of Technical Programmes in programme impact areas by providing necessary monitoring information to field level staffs

  • Field level inspection and monitoring of the programme activities to produce field visit reports

  • Timely submission of DME monthly report to DME Coordinator

  • Assist in preparing resources materials for capacity building events

  • Translating resources material in to local languages.

  • Maintain a resource centre consists of DME documents & other resources

  • Assist to conduct researches according to the guidelines of the PQ department

  • Capture Most Significant Stories (MSCs) and success stories suitable for publication

Increased DME capacity of community/ partners to ensure program Quality

  • Coordinate programme level monitoring activities and training programmes with necessary logistic arrangements

  • Support to develop innovative data gathering tools to support programme implementation

  • Support to implement community level monitoring system such as log books, issue logs and meeting minute books and assist in capacitating building programme for CBOs and other stakeholders

  • Share disaggregated indicator targets and updated indicator achievements with the relevant field staff

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • Bachelor Degree in social Sciences/ Development Management/ International Development or any other relevant field or

  • Diploma in social Sciences/ Development Management/ International Development or other relevant field

  • Proficiency with statistical analysis using SPSS, SAS, Minitab or equivalent and database management

  • Knowledge & experience on development of qualitative data collection methods and analysis skills

  • Data handling skills (classification, categorizing, tabulation etc.) and demonstrates diligence in data analysis and management

  • Understand poverty issues, development theories and holistic development

  • Training and Facilitation skills with proven ability in working well in a team with good collaboration skills

  • Knowledge & experience on social research and process

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English, including training development and delivery

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge & experience on social research and process

  • Experience in conducting surveys

  • Knowledge and experience on data entry and data analysis

  • Good facilitation skill

  • List additional work experience preferred for this position.

  • Prior experience with World Vision programmes or any other child sponsorship based organization
