We are currently looking for qualified and experienced project staff for a Gender & Disability inclusive Economic Development Grant funded Project which aims to promote economic empowerment and social change by helping Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and vulnerable women in achieving sustainable livelihood & income generation opportunities. The project will work closely with all implementing partners, National & Provincial Government authorities, Disabled People's Organizations (DPO), Producer groups and savings clubs. Funded by the Australian NGO Corporation Programme(ANCP) working in collaboration with World Vision Australia, World Vision Lanka, CBM Australia and Promundo the project will cover Northern & Eastern Provincesof Sri Lanka.
TECHNICAL ADVISOR – ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Locations:To be based in East with extensive travel
The Technical Advisor –Economic Development will be responsible for maintaining inclusive livelihood standards within all activities of the project ensuring implementation of effective strategies to enhance economic empowerment of persons with disability (PWD) and vulnerable women in line with project goals and objectives. Working in close collaboration with the relevant govt authorities, project partners and technical specialist the position will provide professional and technical advise on implementing appropriate mechanisms for the integration of inclusive livelihood opportunities for persons with disability (PWD’s) & vulnerable women contributing to the overall quality of the project.
Reporting to the Project Manager, with guidance from the sector specialist, the positions will also provide technical support and guidance to project partners in conducting Value Chain assessment and analysis around main livelihood options appropriate for the given locality & community, promoting viable business opportunities through access to credit, access to technology, access to information, business development services and income generation of the target beneficiaries.
Knowledge, skills & abilities
Masters/Post Graduate qualifications in Social Sciences, Development Studies or related discipline
Minimum of two years experience working in the livelihood sector, preferably with experience handling gender and persons with disability (PWD) economic empowerment initiatives
Experience in program strategic planning, project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and report writing.
Knowledge and experience of holistic community development an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal, representational, advocacy and networking skills with cross cultural sensitivity.
Computer literate in MS Word, MS Excel, Power point, email and internet.
Good communication skill in English(oral & written) with ability to communicate in Tamil and/or Sinhala
Ability to travel up to 50% of time to the field
