PROJECT OPERATIONS LEAD – (Adverse South West Monsoon Response)
Location: To be based in Ratnapura, Kalutara & Galle with extensive travel
Period: July to October 2017
World Vision Lanka (WVL) together with its Project partners UNICEF, OFDA (USAID) & IOM is seeking to recruit qualified individuals for its Adverse South West Monsoon Response project. The project aims to assist communities affected by the landslides and floods to support their recovery efforts, specifically through rehabilitation of essential WASH infrastructure. In addition the project will carry out hygiene related interventions to compliment and prevent spread of disease among the affected communities.
The Project Operations Lead, will provide strategic leadership and guidance to the project teams in the implementation and achievement of the Emergency Response Program goals & objectives. He/She will manage multiple partners and ensure quality programming & standards, staffing, effective budget and resource management and ensure that policies are adhered to and correspond to the standards set by the grant agreement and/World Vision Lanka (WVL) policies and procedures.
Key Objectives of the position
Support DME team in completion of required field level assessments through effective mobilization of resources
Ensure achievement of overall projects goals and objectives as outlined. Overseeing the implementation of projects funded by OFDA, IOM (DTM Mapping) and UNICEF.
Ensure strong coordination between different projects in the current response
Ensure Coordination within and between project teams and work closely with Individual Project Managers in the Response.
Ensure operational implementation are well and adequately resourced
Support project managers in resolving day-to-day obstacles so that the field implementation could be carried out smoothly.
Ensure smooth flow of information between the Response Project staff and NO – HEA staff and ensure timely report submissions/information
Maintain positive relations and coordination with Government, INGOs/ NGOs, UN, other stakeholders and communities in the 03 Districts.
Coordinate field operations monitoring and reporting.
Implement response operations according to safety standards with support from the Security function
Preferred Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in a related field, and two years of related experience; or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above.
Work experience in a relief context, preferably in a leadership role will be an added advantage
Excellent communication, presentation & report writing skills in English, ability to communicate in Sinhala and/or Tamil preferred
Competency in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point
A team player with good interpersonal skills with cross-cultural sensitivity, & commitment to World Vision Core Values and Mission Statement
