We are currently looking for qualified and experienced project staff for a Gender & Disability inclusive Economic Development Grant funded iLIVE Project which aims to promote economic empowerment and social change by helping Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and vulnerable women in achieving sustainable livelihood & income generation opportunities. The project will work closely with all implementing partners, National & Provincial Government authorities, Disabled People's Organizations (DPO), Producer groups and savings clubs. Funded by the Australian NGO Corporation Programme (ANCP) working in collaboration with World Vision Australia, World Vision Lanka, CBM Australia and Promundo the project will cover Northern & Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka.
SAVINGS GROUP FACILITATOR - ANCP iLIVE
Location: To be based in North with extensive travel
Working closely with the Economic Development Advisor, the position will provide professional and technical advice on sustainable & inclusive livelihood opportunities for women and Persons With Disability (PWD) in alliance with external and internal partners with a special focus on facilitating the savings group model in the project. contributing to the overall quality of the project. In addition he/she will:
Identify existing & potential Producer Groups, Savings Groups, Disable Persons Organisations (DPO’s), & Producer Groups, that PWDs and women can engage with in achieving sustainable livelihood & income generation opportunities
Facilitate Savings Groups Model in the project- providing technical input for saving habits, creating linkages between cooperate & private sector partnership, promoting saving group functions among the stakeholder communities & partners
Provide Technical/Sectorial Capacity/Competency building of Saving group, communities and partners on Sector specific standards in order to achieve project goals
Formation / strengthening of savings groups formed for persons with disability and vulnerable women in the project areas of operation
Contribute towards achieving project outcomes and goals as per the project mandate and organisational policies and procedures
Maintain and enhance good relations with the relevant Government Ministries, NGOs and other stakeholders and with vertical & horizontal actors of local value chains.
Provide Operational guidance and directions for Saving group, community and Society while providing strategic guidance to the Project Assistant to achieve project outcomes and goals as per the project plan and grant agreement
Knowledge, skills & abilities required for the position
A Bachelor's degree in the Social Sciences, Development Studies, Agriculture, Community Development, Micro Finance or any relevant professional qualification
Demonstrated knowledge & experience in livelihood sector, preferably in PWD & gender mainstreaming and empowerment projects, with exposure in micro finance, value chain development in local/international NGO context
Prior experience in program strategic planning, project design, implementation, monitoring & evaluation with quality report writing skills
Excellent interpersonal, representation, advocacy & networking skills with ability to liaise and work effectively with government officials, implementing partners, community representatives and other stakeholders to deliver high impact project outcomes as per the project mandate
Good understanding of current socio, economic & political context of the areas of operation
High level of written and verbal communications skills in English, Tamil and/or Sinhala
Computer literate in MS Office including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, email & internet
Ability to travel extensively within the project area of operations
A team player with good interpersonal skills & cross-cultural sensitivity with ability to work well with multi-disciplinary teams
