Director – Corporate Solutions

Location: To be based in Colombo with 30% travel

Job Profile

Provide strategic leadership and management in efficient delivery of high quality services and responsive solutions in Administration, Legal, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Security, Procurement, IT and Enterprise risk management ensuring that practices and procedures are compliant to WV partnership standards, policies and procedures. Develop all the managers who are leading functional teams and provide strategic insight and leadership to the overall function. The position will provide guidance, support, coaching & mentoring to departments under its purview and ensure a culture of collaboration and communication is maintained.

This position is based in Colombo with 30% travel and envisages close working relationship with all Heads of Departments.

Preferred Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Masters degree in Business Administration/Banking, Finance, Supply Chain Management from a reputed university. Membership in a reputed professional body in Finance or Supply Chain Management

  • At least 5-7 years experience in leadership/management position in a reputed organization in a similar role.

  • In-depth practical knowledge of corporate solution support function systems, internal controls and procedures

  • In-depth knowledge of government laws and taxation and other financial implications especially on property, goods and services ,building, environment, immigration other financial laws, contract management and other statutory laws relevant to the function

  • Develop people in a cross-cultural setting and initiated and implemented organizational change at leadership level.

  • Understand poverty issues, development theories and holistic development.

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate, analyze and solve complex issues and create cost effect solutions

  • Experience in enterprise risk management

  • A team player with proven leadership, management, collaborative and organizational skills.

  • Understand knowledge management

  • Excellent Communication skills in English & ability to communicate in Sinhala and/or Tamil

  • Demonstrated facilitation and collaboration skills

  • Good IT skills & competent in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Advice and support the National Director in his/her her leadership and engagement on critical issues relating to cooperate solution management, enterprise risk management, IT, SCM, security and general administration of WV Sri Lanka .

  • Support the ND and Management Team in change management initiatives and alignment of country strategy and program priorities of WV Sri Lanka.

  • Lead, integrate and efficiently manage the CS functions ensuring effective and pro-active solutions in shared services, Administration, IT, security and supply chain management.

  • Practice servant leadership and be a role model for the staff team, peers and others.


Strategy & Efficiency

  • Lead the development of CS department strategies and secondary strategy, and business plans in support of and in alignment with country and global strategic priorities.

  • Ensuring that the ministry support services are integrated and providing effective and efficient services to the program ministry.

  • Lead the implementation of the CS department business plans and performance objectives effectively and efficiently by defining key performance indicators.

  • Lead a process of creating an interdepartmental strategy for the support services and create business processes and workflow maps within the CS function so that all the support services are running smoothly and efficiently.


People Management:

  • Guide and facilitate CS recruitment & selection, performance management, staff development that will support performance and career development.

  • Lead the CS functional teams in development of annual business plan and clear team performance objectives and indicators.

  • Manage direct reports ensuring clear individual performance objectives, key performance indicators and completion of individual learning plans.

  • Lead the strategy for CS , that all the support services foster a climate of interdepartmental collaboration to increase efficiency.

  • Coach direct reports to achieve their performance objectives and meet their commitments in a timely manner.

  • Advice and support in addressing gaps/issues in SCM quality and develop innovative solutions, practices and policies when necessary.

  • Facilitate conducive climate and appropriate mechanism for encouraging innovation and enhance functional and individual effectiveness to meet work goals.

  • Ensure financial accountability, timely reporting and develop cost efficient and effective solutions to manage assets and resources.

  • Guide and contribute to development of systems, policies and procedures related to Logistics, Admin, Security, Legal, SCM and IT etc. as appropriate to the context of Sri Lanka.

  • Lead and manage change process in the CS departments and support senior leadership in change management in the organization.

  • Support the Succession Planning for all the department heads and push forward the Talent Management of the overall unit.


Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that serviced delivery of each function (IT, Admin, Supply Chain Management, Legal, Security, Logistics) are aligned to WV Sri Lanka Priorities, Partnership standards, policies and procedures.

  • Implement risk management practices and procedures covering financial, operational, reputational, and business continuity risks in the organization through Enterprise Risk Management.

  • Support the ND and functional heads in addressing performance, compliance and risk relating to delivery of SCM services.

  • Ensure that SCM practices and policies are aligned to local laws, WV partnership standards.

  • Lead and manage implementation of financial process and procedures in accordance with WV policies and

Standards, and ensure accountability and stewardship in procurement and other financial dealings.

  • Ensure that international audit recommendations are followed through for all responsible areas of work and implemented within the required period.


Capacity Building/Succession Planning:

  • Guide and facilitate assessment, development and implementation of an integrated team capacity building plan based on WV Sri Lanka quality needs and priorities.

  • Coach and support the growth of managers on core competencies and capacity requirements in their respective functions.

  • Share /facilitate access to training resources and opportunities for functional teams. These may include engagement of trainers, establishing institutional links, identifying opportunities for staff exchange or mentoring.


Knowledge Management:

  • Share best practices and lessons learned in SCM practices and tools that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

  • Encourage mutual learning between functions (Admin, Logistics, Legal, IT, SCM, etc.).

  • Contribute in the documentation of best practices and contribute to the WV's community of practice and center of excellence.

  • Internal & External Liaison and Coordination

  • Act as a strategic link and focal point for external and internal contacts of supply chain functions connecting SCM functions with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with relevant Support Offices, GC, and Regional Offices in regard to SCM, IT, Admin, Security etc. as required for smooth functioning of Ministry support Department.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as government authorities, vendors, INGOs, international organizations (UN, embassies) and private donors when necessary.

  • Consistently develop and maintain working relationships with different WVL departments including field program managers both at Regional and ADP level.



  • Lead and support activities that will enrich and develop mutual growth as per organization core values.

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the ND.
