Warehouse Officer– (Adverse South West Monsoon Response)

Location: To be based in Ratnapura, Kalutara & Galle with extensive travel

Period: July to October 2017

Job Profile

World Vision Lanka (WVL) together with its Project partners UNICEF, OFDA (USAID) & IOM is seeking to recruit qualified individuals for its Adverse South West Monsoon Response project. The project aims to assist communities affected by the landslides and floods to support their recovery efforts, specifically through rehabilitation of essential WASH infrastructure. In addition the project will carry out hygiene related interventions to compliment and prevent spread of disease among the affected communities.

The Warehouse Officer will work closely with the Project Team, providing required administrative support required for the effective delivery of services and supplies for the delivery of the project goals and objectives in line with the organisational policies & procedures & the relevant grant agreements and requirements.

  • Maintenance of office, Warehouse premises. WVL equipment and assets are maintained properly.

  • Effective liaison, event management and maintenance of all record as per partnership requirements

  • Planned procurement of supplies and services. Advises on contracting and supply matters

  • Logistics Management and Support

  • Maintenance of WVLs fleet of vehicle

  • Ensure reliable arrangement of transport

  • and equipment

  • Ensure adequate supply of fuel

  • Maintain liaison and close working relationship with the WVL Admin & Logistics Department and relevant project staff on all administrative issues

  • Maintenance of records and reports

  • Excellent general office administrative support to achieve HEA district office goals through accountability and efficiency

  • Good logistics management and support for the district office s

  • Optimization of resources in achieving efficient transport management

  • Perform other duties as required by Operations LEAD

Preferred Education, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum GCE Advance Level qualifications/Diploma or equivalent in a related discipline: and two years’ experience in logistics, procurement & related field; or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above.

  • Work experience in a relief context will be an added advantage

  • Good communications skills in Sinhala and/or Tamil

  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point

  • A team player with good interpersonal skills with cross-cultural sensitivity, & commitment to World Vision Core Values and Mission Statement

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • GCE O/Level/Diploma in a related discipline or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform essential functions of the above listed funcitons

  • Experience in using Microsoft office, with good knowledge of MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English & Sinhala/Tamil
