Director of Philanthropy - Asia
*Preferred locations: Taiwan, Korea, USA,. Location is open to the home country of the preferred candidate, where WVI is registered to operate.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to provide strategic and relational fundraising expertise to optimize our engagement with High Net Worth Individuals in Asian Markets, focused on the markets with existing Support Offices (SO), e.g. WV Korea, WV Japan, WV Hong Kong, WV Taiwan, WV Malaysia, WV Singapore, the China market, etc.
Build Expertise in Major Donor Engagement across Asia SO:
Build capability in the development of in-country Major Donor strategies. Identify and scale best practices, provide training, mentoring, tools and consulting support to build Major Donor Engagement expertise.
Build Expertise in Middle Donor Engagement across Asia SO:
Build capability in the development of in-country Middle Donor strategies. Identify and scale best practices, provide training, mentoring, tools and consulting support to build Middle Donor Engagement expertise.
Build Expertise in Legacy (Planned Giving) across Asia SO:
Build capability in the development of in-country Legacy Giving strategies. Identify and scale best practices, provide training, mentoring, tools and consulting support to build Legacy Giving expertise.
Build Expertise in Philanthrophy:
Stay informed of innovations, trends and new opportunities in the areas of Philanthropy (through conferences, reading, and training).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelors’ degree in business management, strategy development and marketing. Masters or other advanced training in Relationship Management a plus.
5 years of experience leading Major Donors (both Corporate and Major Donors) operations in the NGO sector.
5 years of experience in commercial & corporate background with deep understanding of core relationship building process. During this time, a track record of significant and senior leadership relationship management / interaction.
Strong analytical ability with experience in developing proposals, business and implementation plans.
Broad knowledge in Asia context, including cultural, economic, and NGO related.
Good track record and capability to manage major relationships and engagement projects across different functions and geography.
Excellent communicator: inter personal, writing, and public speaking.
Experience in developing new or emerging markets.
Must be completely fluent in English.
Leadership through influence and demonstrable capability to work across the organization to influence change without direct authority.
Cross cultural understanding. Strong interpersonal and cross cultural communication skills.
Self starter and ability to work effectively in a remote/virtual environment.
Personal relationship skills are of a high standard.
Work the details and not just the big picture.
Able to travel across Asia extensively.
The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
