Response Security and Analysis Manager



The purpose of the Response Security and Analysis Manager – Northern and Southern Syria - position is to lead development and support towards contextual and programmatic security for Syria Country Office-wide security of operational activities. This role is instrumental in conflict crisis and security program development, continuity and enhancing security capacity in analyzing change in the context for continuous operational activities’ control. The candidate will work with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple functions within the Response in support of key projects and will be responsible for conducting analysis that ensures end-to-end security capability and operational delivery to the field. The role as security plays a key part in shaping and influencing areas of tactical risk and readiness while also providing the interface between the Office of Corporate Security – Analysis Unit and the wider humanitarian security management and analysis community.


  • Relevant Bachelor degree in Security, Strategic, or International Studies, or related discipline

  • Relevant Master degree or other advanced degree in Security, Strategic, or International Studies, or related discipline. (preferred)

  • At least 7 years or work related experience in the professional security, research, analysis arena working at international level with international agencies, INGO’s, governments, military, law enforcement or private sector as security analyst, researcher or intelligence officer.

  • A least 2 years of specific operations, project management or research experience.

  • A least 3 years of experience in role providing direct operational planning and support to international agencies, INGO’s, governments, military, law enforcement or private sector as an security analyst or business continuity and resilience specialist.

  • Effective in written and verbal communication in Arabic would be an asset.


  • Sound knowledge of the security research, information collection (collection, collation, analysis & dissemination).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to establish effective relationships at senior levels, gain credibility and influence senior decision makers at Response and Regional levels.

  • Clear understanding and proven practices of the security risk management, security planning and crisis management in the humanitarian context.

  • Strong analysis skills to identify the problem/risks and understand the organization.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communications.

  • Must be able to coordinate work and interface efficiently and effectively with remote (field) locations.

  • Strong administrative skills, with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing to achieve target dates.

  • Must be a productive team player.

  • Strong PC skills in developing matrix (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience of leading and consulting on projects.

  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English

  • Formal qualification in intelligence analysis or business continuity and resilience.

  • A good network of contacts within the Syria Response community, government or humanitarian security fields.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time and includes occasional travel to high risk locations at minimal notice.

  • Role will require successful completion of Hostile Environment Awareness Training provided by employer.

  • The position could be based either in Turkey Gazientep or Jordan Amman working with some unsociable hours due to global coverage and online meetings.
