WASH & Shelter Assistant

International Role - No - Only National applicants will be considered.

World Vision is seeking a WASH & Shelter Assistant to provide support to the WASH & Shelter Manager on the day-to-day activities in WV Turkey’s office and in field humanitarian interventions in N. Syria. This person will be integral in supporting the WASH & Shelter Manager in developing Bill of Quantities, monitoring field teams, preparing WASH project updates and creating procurement documents.


Major Activities

  • Assist the WASH & Shelter Manager in ensuring that all Technical Sector related field staff are closely integrated and that all programs receive equal planning and monitoring.

  • Assist WASH & Shelter manager to develop planning, including design, bill of quantity and project schedules for water sanitation facilities construction/refurbishment in accordance with humanitarian standards.

  • Prepare technical drawings and Bill of Quantities (BoQ) specifications for Water, Sanitation and Shelter infrastructure.

  • Prepare a monitoring and tracking sheet for the distribution of WASH & shelter items.

  • Assist WASH and Shelter Manager in Reporting and Planning for all WASH and Shelter activities.

  • Assist WASH & Shelter Manager to design and supervise rehabilitation and constriction of shelter activities.

  • Support WASH & Shelter Manager on preparing procurement related specifications and relevant details when preparing Purchase Requisitions.

  • Support WASH Manager in preparing EERs for all WASH& Shelter team activities along with the proper coding as per specific PRF.

  • Assist the WASH Manager with meeting Finance Department requirements and Support services in order to carry out activities in Area of Operation as required.

Program Development

  • Coordinate with WV’s Program Development team to prepare new proposals.

  • Coordinate with WV’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning M&E on planned and ongoing activities.

  • Assist the WASH Manager with the development of strategies for long-term or additional interventions.

  • Compile Daily, Weekly and Monthly projections/delivery plans.


  • As per delegation, participate in WASH & Shelter related meetings and coordination with other INGOS and stakeholders.


  • Daily communication with the field staff.

  • Produce daily/weekly updates and monthly progress reports and any other report requested.


  • Bachelor or Post Graduate University degree in in Water, Environmental, Electromechanical, Civil Engineering or other related fields.

  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English and Arabic.

  • Knowledge of NGOs and humanitarian industry.

  • Experience in networking and coordination with NGOs, UN and authorities.

  • Able to use computer MS Applications (word processing, spreadsheets etc) for reporting and monitoring data collection.

  • Experience facilitating meetings and capacity building workshops.

  • A minimum of 2 year experience in Civil engineering, water and sanitation infrastructures, operation.

  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

  • Ability to work with a reasonable level of comfort in high tension and high security risk situations.

  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardships.

  • Demonstrates openness and transparency.

  • Ability and willingness to travel between Syria and Turkey – 10% travel
