Position: Child Sponsorship and Development Facilitator
Supervises: Community Development Assistants and Child sponsorship and development assistants
Report to: Programme Manager
Location: Gulu, Koro Bobi Area Development Program
Purpose of position: To guide and facilitate programme development, monitoring and implementation in an Area Progranme (AP) in line with programme plans.
Guide AP programme planning and Development.
Support and guide AP scheduled assessments, evaluations and designs.
Facilitate development of the AP design document and Annual Operations Plans/Detailed implementation Plans.
Gather and analyze community perspectives, and prepare annual work plans and cash flows.
Write concept papers and proposals for non-sponsorship fundraising.
Monitoring of progress and achievements of programmes in the AP.
Monitoring and track progress of programme implementation.
Organize AP level forums to assess progress of implementation of planned activities.
Monitor progress of programme/project interventions against plans within the AP.
Organize review, reflection and learning forum for AP staff, community, local organizations and government.
Documentation and sharing of programme learning.
Mobilization of communities, local organizations and institutions for programme development and implementation.
Mobilize community participation in programme/project planning, development, implementation and monitoring.
Mobilize government institutions and technical staff in the planning and implementation of AP programmes and plans.
Mobilse grassroots organizations, Churches and other civil society organizations on poverty reduction.
Build AP level partnerships, networks and coalitions with civil society organizations and local government institutions.
Facilitate networking with government institutions and other development partners within the AP in planning and implementation of development programmes.
Identify and nurture local partnerships with grassroots civil society organizations, Churches and sub county government.
Build and facilitate the capacity and growth of community and grassroots organizations.
Facilitate growth of strong grassroots movements on specific advocacy issues.
Build leadership and mobilization capacity of programme/project committees and facilitate their participation in programme/project development activities.
Facilitate the operations and functioning of AP child protection committee.
Ensure adherence at AP of child protection policy, guidelines and protocols.
Management of sponsorship performance
Support and facilitate sponsorship staff and sponsorship service operations in the AP.
Monitor performance of sponsorship performance in line with child sponsorship standards.
Proper and efficient management and use of AP finance and assets.
AP financial and asset resources are managed and used in line with policy guidelines.
Produce AP quality and timely reports to keep track of progress of planned activities within the area of operation.
Produce timely and quality bi-annual and annual reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
University Degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Education or any relevant field and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management
At least five years’ experience working with communities in development. Experience in WVU key sectors of Health and Nutrition, Education, Livelihoods or child protection desired.
Strong results orientation with ability to handle a heavy work load with minimal supervision, manage and satisfy multiple conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands.
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships with all staff and other key partners.
