Financial Accountant

Job Description

Position: Financial Accountant

Reports to: Senior Finance Officer

Location: National Office, Kampala

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide guidance in the management of project Budget monitoring, Input and ensure data integrity and reliability in the Field Financial Report (FFR),settlement Advices (SA) System and processing of payments and disbursements.

Major Responsibilities:

Financial Accountability and Reporting

  • Review payments for supporting documents as per WV financial policy standards for National Office

  • Ensure correct coding of payment requisitions in Provision to avoid integration errors of Provision and Sun6.

  • Upload invoices into Coupa on a daily basis and correctly populate the relevant templates.

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and journal vouchers for A/c 170 and provide a listing of the balances and a trend analysis.

  • Attend & contribute in FFR review meetings.

  • Support yearend reconciliations and reporting.

Financial Planning and Budgeting

  • Check all payments for funds availability in MYPBAS against Annual budget Vs actual expenditure and Budget approvals.

  • Participate in budget preparation for new proposals as required

Risk Management

  • Support internal and external audits at National Office.

  • Witness daily cash count process and endorse on the cash count certificates

Capacity Building

  • Build capacity of Finance and non- Finance staff on payments and supporting documentations.

  • Participate in FINCEP trainings.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • A university degree, with a major in Accounting/Finance/Auditing and or a full professional qualification in A.C.C.A, CPA, CA, CIA or CMA or equivalent.

  • A minimum of three years’ post qualification experience.

  • Extensive Computer knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Vision Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SUN Accounting and Access is required.

  • Must have proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Internal Control Procedures.

  • Written and Oral Communication skills are essential, and the incumbent must be a team builder, who is able to work successfully in a multicultural environment.

  • A high level of integrity is required.
