Advisor, Cross Sector Partnerships and Platforms

Job Description

*Preferred location: United Kingdom. Position location to be determined by home country of succesful candidate within a jurisdiction (country or US state) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

In line with the priorities of World Vision’s new global strategy, this position will support World Vision offices to strengthen their participation in cross-sector partnerships and country level multi-stakeholder platforms for partnership (in the context of the SDGs). World Vision National Offices will be the primary focus for support, with other World Vision entities (e.g. global sector teams) following in a second phase. The role holder will have the very significant task of influencing the ‘hearts and minds’ of primarily National Directors to prioritise this support being offered for capability development of partnerships and national platforms through the design and provision of resources and expertise, enabling capability assessments and leading to capability building plans. Business sector engagement will be a key focus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Against a backdrop of strong competition for organisational attention, convince National Directors (and other senior leaders) to prioritise capacity strengthening of partnering and platforms capability for their World Vision entities (with a strong primary focus on WV National Offices) through the development and delivery of resources including initial capability assessments and capability building.

  • Influence senior leadership of WV entities of the need for, and then deliver high quality support for strategy development (including landscape assessments) and implementation of cross-sector partnerships (including with business) and multi-stakeholder platforms.

  • Provide leadership to an emerging community of practice of WV leaders and staff engaged in cross-sector partnerships and multi-stakeholder platforms.

  • Develop a monitoring and evaluation framework with which to track progress on partnering and platforms practice at the national level.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Degree level (Master’s preferred) in relevant field: international development/relations, business administration, public administration, communications.

  • 3+ years of experience in managing or providing strategic brokering support to cross-sector partnerships.

  • 1+ years of experience support of or participation in multi-stakeholder platforms for partnership.

  • Excellent resource development, facilitation, presentation, and training skills; able to effectively communicate concepts and actions in a clear and persuasive manner.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal across a range of cultures and organizational levels.

  • Ability to interact and effectively manage relationships with colleagues across cultures and organizations.

  • Effective in motivating and influencing; leads by example exhibiting integrity, humility and transparency.

  • Fully Fluent: English. Second language preferred.

  • 5+ years in senior project management roles requiring advanced analytical skills, strategy development and successful implementation of solutions.

  • Direct field experience in advocacy, relief and/or development programming, preferably in cross-cultural context.

Preferred:

  • Professional partnering/brokering qualification (e.g. Partnership Brokers Accreditation Scheme or similar).

Travel and/or Work Environment:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.

  • Ability to work effectively virtually is a key requirement.
