Senior Manager, Strategy Realization

Job Description

*Preferred location: London, United Kingdom. Other locations within GMT +/- 5 hours to be determined by the home country of the successful candidate in a jurisdiction (country or US state) where is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The role of the Senior Manager is to support Advocacy & External Engagement (A&EE) global leadership in ensuring A&EE’s contribution to WV’s new global strategy, Our Promise 2030. This includes both the aspects of the strategy on which A&EE has a leading role and also A&EE’s input and collaboration on those aspects being led by other WV teams.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a strong strategy realization plan, and managing all the associated aspects of monitoring and evaluation, budgeting, and operations. The other critical part of the position is ensuring effective integration between A&EE and internal partners and processes - as they relate to strategy realization. This will include providing expert contribution (on A&EE’s behalf) on issues such as M&E and process design and management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing and implementing a strong strategy realization plan:

  • Plan in place that provides strong guidance and support for achievement of A&EE goals and strategy realization targets.

  • A&EE team well integrated and coordinated within itself.

  • Plan (and budget) monitored and early warnings and solutions provided where remedial action required.

  • Member of Advocacy and Justice for Children (A&JC) Management Team.

Ensuring effective integration between A&EE and internal partners and processes:

  • A&EE inputting to, and collaborating on, those aspects of global strategy being led by other WV teams.

  • Expert contribution provided on A&EE’s behalf to the above on issues such as M&E and process design and management.

  • A&EE contributing to, and represented in, all internal projects and processes that affect its success with regard to strategy realization.

  • A&EE inputting to, and integrating with, the annual Partnership Planning Cycle in a timely and strategic manner.

  • A&EE well-networked with all key planning, operations, integration and M&E counterparts around the Partnership.

  • Global Justice Network well informed and leveraged.

Designing and executing both existing and new monitoring and evaluation (M&E) approaches for the Partnership-wide advocacy and external engagement ministries:

  • A&EE contributing to, and represented in, SRO (Strategy Realization Office) M&E processes; and effective A&EE metrics in place in the SRO plan.

  • New M&E solutions and processes in place in support of the above.

  • Continued development and success of the advocacy Partnership Strategic Measures (PSMs).

  • Design and delivery of PSMs shared externally both with industry colleagues and in support of specific ministry and funding opportunities.

Acting as ‘Chief of Staff’ for A&EE:

  • Act as Finance lead for A&EE.

  • Act as P&C (People & Culture) lead for A&EE.

  • Act as Risk and Governance lead for A&EE.

  • Create and deliver A&EE input to all reporting processes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Very strong technical skills in planning, operations, and M&E: able to take a lead role.

  • Excellent written and spoken English: able to write and present at level suitable for leadership audiences.

  • Very strong Excel skills and experience.

  • Planning experience.

  • M&E experience.

  • Experience in financial management (creation and management of budgets).

Preferred:

  • MBA (Master of Business Administration).

  • Understanding of organizational strategy.

  • Understanding of INGO sector.

  • Experience of working in complex, global organizations and virtual teams.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours where necessary to accommodate any time differences between self and supervisor/other colleagues.

  • Working from home is optional in all cases, but may be necessary in those cases where no suitable office space is available locally.

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
