Digital Communications Officer

Job Description

*Position location to be determined by home country of successfull candidate in a jurisdication (country or US State) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Properties, the Digital Communications Officer develops and curates content (stories, photographs, video) for WVI digital properties, mining from the best work of World Vision offices and developing content for key campaigns and moments. This position has a particular focus on WVI’s social media channels but will also contribute to wvi.org. In addition, the Digital Communications Officer will provide practical editorial and limited technical support for WVI digital content producers across the Partnership who use WVI platforms to communicate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, edit and create/ curate content for all WVI digital properties for key moments and priorities.

  • Ensure Social Media Interest Group and others follow established protocols and editorial guidelines including branding (negotiate disputes, help correct errors, create learning resources, conduct group trainings).

  • Identify, edit and assist in curating content for emergency responses.

  • Collaborate with Manager of Learning and CoP to create capacity building resources and conduct group training events that build digital story telling/ production skills within the Comms network.

  • Participate in integrated projects as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or social media related field.

  • 5 years proven social media content development.

  • Sound editorial skills.

  • An understanding of audience segmentation/ how to target key audiences.

  • Design skills.

  • Basic video-editing a major plus.

  • Experience in a global organization (NGO experience an advantage).

  • Experience with faith based audiences.

  • Proven working knowledge of all WVI digital platform technical standards.

  • Experience in exercising editorial judgement in identifying and create content for a variety of channels.

  • Experience developing resources for and conducing group capacity development for adults.

Preferred:

  • Visual creative skills in video/photo preparation, infographics and social media content editing/layout.

  • Experience in a similar content curation role is preferred.

  • Experience in communicating for development/humanitarian agency setting.

  • Ability to work in a cross cultural and virtual team environment.

Working Environment/Conditions:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10 % of the time.
