PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Director of Media and Social Media Engagement, the Social Media Manager will create a social media strategy for World Vision International (WVI) and will research, plan, develop, curate and analyse content (stories, photographs, video) for WVI digital properties, mining from the best work of World Vision offices, working with agencies when appropriate and developing content for key campaigns and global moments. This position has a particular focus on WVI’s social media channels. In addition, the Social Media Manager will provide practical editorial and some technical support for WVI digital content producers across the Partnership who use WVI platforms to communicate. As the way we communicate changes continuously our focus is more and more becoming digitally focused. Our target audience is changing, how they access information is also changing and is almost exclusively online and on social media. Therefore, in order to communicate to them World Vision must focus largely on digital communications. It is essential that we have a Social Media Manager on the Media and Social Media team to strategically plan digital communications, oversee digital communications work and ensure that content we share is engaging for the target audience and is shared on the correct channels in order to ensure maximum exposure.
Develop, implement and manage WVI’s social media strategy. Identify, edit and create/ curate content for all WVI digital properties for key moments, and priorities.
Collaborate with Marketing and Advocacy and External Engagement teams to ensure all social media outputs to support their work is coordinated, innovative and impactful.
Work closely with the marketing team to plan social media content and platforms for products and campaigns, strategise for and execute social media element of global moments and analyse the success of each global moment from a social media perspective.
Stay up to date with latest social media best practices and technologies.
Collaborate with Manager of Learning and CoP to create capacity building resources and conduct group training events that build digital story telling/ production skills within the Comms network.
Manage Social Media Interest Group and ensure they follow established protocols and editorial guidelines including branding (negotiate disputes, help correct errors, create learning resources, conduct group trainings).
Coordinate social media leads and ensure that all World Vision offices continuously communicate with each other. This will include the management of ongoing partnership social media leaders update calls and skype chats.
Engage members of Social media group and promote coordination of content for global moments.
Present to Senior Management when necessary.
Identify, edit and assist in curating content for emergency responses.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or social media related field.
5 years proven social media content development.
Sound editorial skills.
An understanding of audience segmentation/ how to target key audiences.
Experience in coordinating digital media leads from a number of different offices.
Ability to partner other teams in order to jointly plan and execute engaging and successful content.
Passion for innovation in the digital sector.
Strategic planning and analysis experience.
Visual creative skills in video/photo preparation, infographics and social media content editing/layout.
Experience in a global organization (NGO experience an advantage).
Experience with faith based audiences.
External relationship management.

Experience in exercising editorial judgement in identifying and create content for a variety of channels.
Experience developing resources for and conducing group capacity development for adults.
Experience in a strategic content curation role.

The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
