The Financial Accounting Unit (FAU) performs financial accounting for World Vision UK (WVUK) including delivering financial services, designing and implementing its financial control environment and performing treasury management. The organisation relies heavily on the robust financial control environment, accuracy and timeliness of data and services that the FAU provides, with costly implications if this does not occur. The postholder will be important in the planning and execution of the FAU’s accounting/control activity and service provision to the organisation, and process improvement in these areas. This includes the line management, spiritual nurture and performance management of 3 team members.
Proactively plan, manage and drive a robust balance sheet review process. Apply judgement and initiative in the design and implementation of the process, influencing and obtaining engagement from stakeholders across the organisation and making decisions around focus to balance accuracy, materiality and cost. A robust balance sheet will result in fuller and more accurate data for decision making.
Lead all FAU activities associated with transactional financial service delivery to the organisation i.e. purchase and sales ledger, WV interoffice transactions and business expenses. Ensure efficient and effective delivery and achievement of agreed service levels and lead responses to organisational users (FAU mailbox). This shall be achieved through capacity planning, organisational policy development and maintenance, process review and improvement, supervising and coaching of reports and influencing/education of stakeholders.
Line management, spiritual nurture and performance management of 3 direct reports. Leadership role in the FAU to inspire, motivate, coordinate, train, and provide prioritisation, escalating issues to the Financial Controller where appropriate.
Reflect the organisation’s Christian values in a leadership role, and apply own Christian faith in day to day work situations.
Actively support FAU activities in continuous process improvement planning and coordination and execution, in particular associated with the implementation of new financial systems.
Cover for Senior Financial Accountant and Senior Financial Specialists and Financial Specialists when necessary.
