Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer –Disasters & Emergencies Preparedness Programme (DEPP)
£27,000 per annum pro rata + good range of benefits
This is a part-time, 3 days per week, fixed term contract until 31stDecember 2017 (with the possibility of extension to 31stMarch 2018)
This role will primarily be based in World Vision’s Victoria office in London, with the possibility of some international travel.

World Vision UK is managing a DFID-funded Disasters and Emergencies Preparedness Programme (DEPP) grant on behalf of the Communicating with Disaster Affected Communities (CDAC) Network. The CDAC Network is a growing platform of more than 30 humanitarian, media development, social innovation, technology, and telecommunication organisations, dedicated to saving lives and making aid more effective through communication, information exchange and community engagement. Under the DEPP grant the CDAC Network is working with in-country partners in Bangladesh, South Sudan and the Philippines to pilot a range of tools and approaches to inform and improve the way the humanitarian sector prepares for and responds to emergencies.
Critical to changing policy and practice is the provision of a strong evidence base; and this is a key focus for the programme in the coming months. Working alongside the DEPP Programme Manager , the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer will work closely with programme partners to capture and provide critical analysis of monitoring data and lessons learned, and lead on the analysis, packaging and presentation of an evidence base geared towards influencing the wider humanitarian sector.There is a strong possibility of extension to the end of March 2018.
to be the lead person on all aspects of programme monitoring, evaluation and learning.
to support the design and delivery of knowledge and learning activities with partners.
to provide support to local and international partners, sharing end of programme evidence and learning
to act as the principal liaison between the programme and the global DEPP Learning team, commitments are met, and requisite level of engagement is maintained
to participate in relevant global level DEPP activities with the CDAC and Start networks with an emphasis on end-of-programme learning and evidence dissemination
to support the final programme external evaluation, working with the partners and consultants to ensure that a quality product is delivered
The ideal candidate will be passionate about the humanitarian sector and the use of inter-agency learning to enhance the effectiveness of disaster response. Critically, they will be:
Able to effectively analyse both qualitative and quantitative data with experience in data management
Thorough with a good eye for detail
Ideally educated to Masters level in social sciences, statistics or similar (or can demonstrate equivalent experience)
Able to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment
Able to take initiative in identifying improvements to programme M&E systems
Collaborative and team focused
