Senior Advisor, People & Organisation Development

Job Description

*Preferred location: United Kingdom (or +4 hrs or -4hrs GMT). Other locations to be determined by home country of successful candidate in a jurisdiction (country of US state) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This global role is a key advisor, coach and influencer working with senior leaders across the World Vision Partnership to shape and implement World Vision’s response to the challenge of sustained organizational wellbeing and performance.

This role is responsible for developing and leading delivery of strategic organization development outcomes that increase organization effectiveness and agility and enable the development of a culture which facilitates high performance.

As part of the Global Centre People & Organization Development team, the role provides global consultancy, training and coaching support to leaders and key practitioners to ensure effective organizational design, development and change management solutions and processes.

This role is also responsible for the strengthening of Organizational Development & Culture (OD&C) capability across World Vision through coaching, professional development and networking of key practitioners and leaders engaged in OD&C activities and leading the creation and sharing of knowledge, best practices and relevant products and standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advisory and Consultancy Support:

  • Provide expert organization development and change leadership support for high priority global initiatives and projects. These will include those directly related to Our Promise 2030 realization –as well as support of wider ongoing organizational development and change needs.

  • Provide expert consultancy, training and coaching support to senior leaders and key practitioners in regions, national offices and GC teams in matters of organizational design and development (effectiveness, health and wellbeing, agility, leadership, culture and change) and assist in the design and facilitation of frameworks and processes aligned to their goals.

  • Partner strategically and operationally with P&C leaders and Business Partners to ensure OD&C solutions align with global P&C Strategy and joined-up P&C responses and support for key organization development and change initiatives (e.g. leadership development, talent management, performance management, employee engagement, business partnering).

  • Facilitate and/or support the development of global tools and resources and advise on their contextualized application in support of effective OD&C practice.

OD&C Capability Strengthening:

  • Provide leadership for the design and delivery of global learning and development approaches and products which enable and support leaders and practitioners to develop OD&C competencies.

  • Provide leadership for the effective design and operation of global solutions (e.g. networks and platforms) which promote and enable the creation and sharing of OD&C knowledge and best practices and help contribute to monitoring of OD&C performance.

  • Provide leadership for the creation and dissemination of learning and examples of innovative and successful OD&C solutions.

  • Coach and advise leaders who engage OD&C practitioners in how best to lead these human resources and processes.

  • Build and maintain internal and external networks or register of external consultants who can provide OD&C support for initiatives and projects.

Team Effectiveness:

  • Actively contribute to the development and high-performance of the People & Organization Development team, and the wider global P&C community.

  • Support cross-collaboration and integration of P&C practices.

  • Participate in team meetings and spiritual reflection.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Master or Bachelor Degree in one or more of the following; Education/Professional Education and Training; HR/Human Resource Development; Organizational Development or Organisational Psychology.

  • Professional expertise backed up substantial experience and/or Organizational Development, ideally in a regional or international role and within the Development and Humanitarian Assistance industry – at least 10 years.

  • Deep and sophisticated understanding of OD&C practices, challenges, trends and better-practices within the Development and Humanitarian Assistance industry and in the wider relevant industries.

  • Strong consultancy, coaching and facilitation skills with evidence of effective application across international contexts and cultures.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, especially with credibility at senior levels, and capacity to adapt effectively across cultures.

  • Highly developed consultancy and influence skills.

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in a senior role within an HR or OD&C environment/function.

  • Proven track record of working effectively across cultures and in international contexts.

  • Membership of appropriate professional organization (HR, OD).

  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English (additional WV language desirable).

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong ability to translate strategic organization development imperatives into tangible and relevant outcomes.

  • A significant track record in designing and implementing organization development and/ change initiatives and projects.

  • Experience in successfully designing and implementing strategies, initiatives, projects in complex settings and involving diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining strong, productive and mutually beneficial professional networks.

  • Advanced understanding of contemporary practice in the field of OD&C.

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated capacity to work with a diverse senior group.

  • Interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, people and client relationship skills.

  • Strong experience in developing compelling and successful business cases.

  • Understanding of business needs and drivers and ability to deliver value added solutions.

  • Able to focus on ministry outcomes (not only on learning design and delivery).

  • Willingness, capability and flexibility to travel internationally to address key client needs.

  • Bias for action and capacity to deliver efficiently and effectively.

  • Capability in project managing multiple strategies across a complex organization and across multiple geographies.

  • Clear and positive Christian faith commitment and capacity to provide leadership and guidance in this area, and to ensure WV’s Christian Identity is woven into the work delivered.

  • Innovative and problem-solving skills and capacity to deliver under pressure; pragmatism; persistence.

  • Strong demonstrable reserves of motivation and energy to embrace new challenges and craft impactful and sustained interventions in innovative ways.

  • Relevant field experience and understanding of the wider context within which World Vision operates.

  • Strong team management and team membership capabilities.

  • Ability to work effectively within a virtual team and with virtual stakeholders.

  • Experience working in the Development and Humanitarian Assistance industry, including experience in field-settings.

Work Environment:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30 % of the time.

  • Capacity to work virtually requiring flexibility in working hours over the range of WV time zones.
