Senior Manager - Strategic Content

*Preferred locations: United States, United Kingdom or Canada. Position to be located within a jurisdiction (Country or US State) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Senior Director - Global Content and matrixed to the Partnership Leader - Strategic Marketing, this position is responsible for co-designing, developing, and leading the global content strategy through content and related processes that drive income, reputation, visibility, and other outcomes across the partnership. This role will also lead initiatives that have impact for Support Office operations, including design and roll out of content packages, influencing and reducing Support Office trips to the field and associated costs, and in ensuring partnership-wide capability to access, track, and measure content performance.

In light of a new operating environment with decreased resources and a need to raise income, this role will help facilitate a new collaboration model and ways of working with senior Support Office revenue generating leaders, Global Resource Development (GRD), Global Programmes and External Engagement. The position will identify opportunities for global cut-through for the World Vision brand and reputation, through the provision of world-class content to drive unprecedented global audience engagement.

This role oversees and sets direction for a team of three, including the Manager I, Content Collaboration & Alignment, the Content Systems Lead, and a Content Librarian.

Working with the above stakeholders, and with Global Communications Innovation, Learning and Operations, this position will define best practice audience insights and use knowledge of the market to develop and implement a global content strategy. This strategy will both provide the full range of content and steer the partnership towards the use of high value content/collections focused on strategic priority themes.

The position will exercise leadership and decision-making as efficiencies are woven with Our Promise 2030 as a central tenant. This will include explicit support for private revenue generation and reduction of off-strategy requests by Support Offices; audit and follow up action with National Office communications and field leaders, and in creating capability at the global level to build reputation and trust.

As the content framework to support Our Promise is led by the Senior Director, this position will negotiate and influence for buy-in from across GC leadership, particularly with GRD, while creating processes for content to align to income and brand requirements.

In addition, this role will be responsible for working with GRD and other stakeholders to develop and test content to support new product development and brand awareness raising campaigns.

This role will operate as a full member of Global Communications and GRD, working closely with the Learning and Operations team to analyse metrics for global content use, performance, and influence affiliated decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, facilitate and direct mid-long term content strategy with a focus on driving growth in private revenue with members across GRD, senior SO marketers and fundraisers, ministry experts and external engagement to lead and model new ways of working to meet the needs for content in light of the new global strategy.

  • Be a central contributor to the development of a new field operating model for communications and marketing content in the field.

  • Editorial leadership across many online and offline channels, including drafting and leading discussions on policies and guidance for existing and emerging content issues.

  • Establish WV best practices for content production, asset management for 300k plus assets, as well as content for fast onset emergencies (including affiliated processes.

  • Industry lead in understanding content measurement for building reputation and revenue; Influence content performance measurement conducted at SO level; Make recommendations for organisational behaviour change.

  • Lead storytelling capability across functions from Sponsorship to PNS to brand campaigns and grant growth.

  • Test new content concepts supported through SO and global strategy; mainstreaming through content producers network in SOs and NOs.

  • Create alignment across Global Communications content systems, Child Sponsorship, wvcentral, and SO digital asset management systems.

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent career experience in Marketing, Communications, or Media or related discipline.

  • At least seven years’ experience in a creative media environment/production, managing creative projects for global audiences and generating income.

  • Significant experience of influencing, negotiating with senior leadership in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Experience in a leading role that had income targets (marketing, grants, major donors/corporate/foundations).

  • Understanding of digital asset management and affiliated systems.

  • Significant experience of industry best practice for different channel/audience/market requirements (e.g. social media, infographics etc).

  • Demonstrated experience of developing strategy based upon insights data/research and ongoing measurement of impact.

Preferred:

  • Experience in tracking marketing trends and applying them to strategy.

  • Proficiency in management of creative projects with income targets.

  • Preferred experience in delivering creative content in the development field.

  • Experience in working multicultural/language environment.

Work Environment:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.

  • Demonstrated project management and digital asset management experience.
