Job Description

*Position location to be determined by home country of successful candidate in a jurisdiction (US state or country) where WVI is registered to operate.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Write and develop communication and marketing materials that support World Vision’s Global Corporate Communications strategy, align with World Vision’s global strategy, Our Promise 2030, and global brand. Ensure that communication materials support the mission of World Vision and adhere to corporate messaging and branding standards. Help carry out our Christian organisation’s mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, write and execute marketing and communications materials/tools for leaders and staff, achieving the highest level of quality consistent with corporate identity, brand message and industry standards.

  • Hands-on communications project support, including, but not limited to, support of LeaderTalks, overseeing mailing lists, and support for internal news channels and platforms, including at least mid-point skills in SharePoint.

  • Build relationships across Corporate and Global Communications with respect to the agreed priority areas/audiences for communication. Participate in team meetings and other briefing and planning meetings as appropriate. Develop a clear understanding of the team’s purpose, objectives and success criteria, and how these relate to the overall organisational strategy (Our Promise 2030) and identity (brand).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related client-services field, or the equivalent work experience (minimum five years).

  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.

  • At least five years working in a related field in public relations, communications or marketing, preferably in a global and multi-cultural environment.

  • Excellent networker and information gatherer and synthesizer of information into cohesive content.

  • Comfortable working in a matrix structure or with multiple reporting lines; effective at working in a team and on their own.

  • Fluent in English – both spoken and written forms.

Preferred:

  • Sees the bigger picture: understands how team communications fit with the overall organisational communications strategy, objectives, activities, as well as the organisation’s brand and strategy.

  • Understands the principles of communications/editorial planning and is knowledgeable in audience and message identification.

  • Able to work with technical/sector specialists and can cut through their jargon and simplify content for broad understanding of a topic.

  • Project management skills to ensure successful completion of assignments.

  • Has experience using SharePoint, preferably at a semi-skilled level.

  • Understands World Vision, its mission and vision, and shares its values. Familiar with field operations and with development projects either within World Vision or with another international development organisation.

Work Environment/Travel:

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time.

  • Successful applicant will have residency and permission to work in a country/state where World Vision can work, preferably the UK, U.S, or Canada.

  • Standard work environment for position working from home.
