FALL 2018 WORLD VISION INTERNSHIPS (Monrovia, CA)

World Vision Internships provide a three-month opportunity for exceptional students and recent graduates ready to explore a career in the international relief and development sector. We are committed to providing interns with a meaningful learning experience where you are able to learn, grow and connect alongside other emerging professionals who are passionate about our mission.

DETAILS & ELIGIBILITY

Dates: September 17, 2018 – December 14, 2018

Stipend: All US-based interns are paid a monthly stipend of $250

Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities are available (20-40 hours/week)

Location: Internships will be based in Monrovia (California)

Eligibility:

  • All candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week

  • Eligible to work in the United States (US Citizen/resident or F1-student visa)

  • Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate/graduate program (within 2 years)

  • Adhere to the Christian Statement of Faith required by all World Vision International employees

FALL 2018 INTERNSHIPS (Monrovia, CA)

Global Governance Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: International Development/Public Policy, Business Administration, Communication, Graphic Design, Spanish

Global Governance's role is to support national boards and advisory councils to ensure they govern effectiveness, in alignment with World Vision's missions, vision and values. We support, equip and advise boards to adopt best practices while ensuring adherence to our Core Documents and Partnership policies. The Governance Department is actively working with National Offices and their boards to support their oversight structures and decision making. Spanish language skills are desirable as many of the resources are created for the Latin American National Offices.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Utilize writing and creativity to develop a variety of resources such as short e-learning courses, case studies and other templates and tools that will be used by board members world-wide for training and development. Intern will analyze existing resources to develop materials. Ability to create graphics and presentation visuals and learn new software programs is beneficial.

  • Review and analysis of existing governance resources to contribute to a comprehensive online resource library and an archival version that will be available to boards and National Office staff worldwide.

  • Correspondence with National Office board contacts to research and collect board information, including member composition, meetings documents and evidence of performance.

  • Development of useful presentations and other resources for department.

Global Internal Audit Learning & Development Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Quality Assurance, Compliance, Data Analytics, International Development, Non-profit Management, Business/Communications, Sociology

The Global Internal Audit Department provides assurance to the rest of the organization that it is moving in the right direction. Internal Auditors serve as trusted advisors and perform in-depth research and investigations to ensure operations are benefitting the appropriate stakeholders and running at maximum efficiency.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Assist advisors in brainstorming new and creative approaches to entrenched quality and performance issues within the department.

  • Collect/organize interesting research and news for Internal Audit Newsletter.

  • Review Learning & Development resources and methodology to determine appropriate usage amongst Internal Audit department.

  • Update audit staff roster with new/departing staff, professional certifications, and contacts.

Global Supply Chain Business Data Analysis Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Procurement/Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting or Finance

World Vision's Global Supply Chain and Shared Services Team (GSCM) is dedicated to ensuring that World Vision’s programmes and responses around the world get the goods and services they need when needed, where needed and at the right price. The supply chain team manages thousands of suppliers, hundreds of purchasers and a complex logistics network.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the planning and monitoring projects with a global team

  • Assist in the development of business unit analytics and reporting

  • Assist in the development of department or operational procedures

  • Assist in monitoring and responding to charge back queries from field offices

  • Assist in generating monthly reports and analyze data

Global Supply Chain Management Operations Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Supply Chain, Business Administration, Accounting, Project Management

World Vision's Global Supply Chain and Shared Services Team (GSCM) is dedicated to ensuring that World Vision’s programmes and responses around the world get the goods and services they need when needed, where needed and at the right price. The supply chain team manages thousands of suppliers, hundreds of purchasers and a complex logistics network.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Implement new Contract Management System for Global Procurement within Coupa (cloud-based procurement and supply chain software).

  • Design numbering system for tracking and reviewing purposes.

  • Create purchase orders in collaboration with suppliers.

  • Liaise with National and Regional Offices to receive contracts.

  • Develop monitoring system for contracts and renewals.

Human Resources Benefits Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Human Resources, Health Field, Insurance Field

You will learn about a comprehensive employee benefit program as part of HR strategy in a nonprofit setting. By supporting the Total Rewards team with benefits operations, you will gain hands-on HR experience with a broad US-based and international employee demographic. You will also assist with the annual employee benefits open enrollment period.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation for open enrollment would include the catalog, review, and update of communication materials and testing of the benefits enrollment platform. You would be involved in the planning and execution of the Benefit Faire to promote and kick off Open Enrollment.

  • During open enrollment, you will learn the customer service side of HR by supporting employees with enrollment platform access issues.

  • Once open enrollment ends, you will gain exposure to an overview of the benefits administration process by generating and delivering reports to various benefit vendors and internal departments.

Information Technology Security Analyst Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems Design & Programming

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Data Entry and Organisation of records on the Learning Management System.

  • Review and Resolution/ Escalation of information incident requests and tickets.

  • Provide updates on assigned tasks and responsibilities with respect to Information Security Training & Awareness across the partnership.

Information Technology Security Management Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Computer Science/Engineering, Analytics, Information Systems, Finance/ Business, Math

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Triage of security incidents to identify information security threats and vulnerability findings to support incident response.

  • Assists with vulnerability management for specific applications, services, networks and servers when required.

  • Assists with documentation of processes, programs and reports when required.

  • Assists with incident response and forensic investigations when required.

  • Assists the security operations team to identify, select and advice on information security controls.

  • Assists in the research and assessment of new threats, security alerts and recommendation of remedial action/s.

  • Assist with information security risk analysis and reporting.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Marketing and Communications Systems Intern:

*This position can be located in either Monrovia, California or Federal Way, Washington

  • Eligible Candidates: Current undergraduate, recent graduate, graduate student

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Photography,

  • Videography, Graphic Design, Computer Science/Technology (Database Optimization, Search Engine, and Metadata Tagging)

World Vision's Team Content is responsible for the storage of over 300,000 valuable digital assets.

These assets are the photos, videos and stories that fuel marketing, advocacy and communication across the global World Vision Partnership.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Project research and analysis of content use and patterns

  • Apply industry best-practices to our library metadata and tagging practices

  • Assist with improving the Digital Asset Management system to better meet user needs

  • Develop training materials for new technologies/systems

University Recruiting & Internship Programmes Intern:

*This intern is required to start on Monday, September 10 (one week earlier than the original start date)

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Communications, HR Management. Leadership and Development, Psychology, Business Administration

Do you have experience leading and coordinating teams and programs? Interested in learning about leadership development and talent acquisition/recruiting? You will work as a key member of our team as we develop and coordinate weekly internship programming including our World Vision Speaker Series, Professional Development Seminars and more!

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Support the overall coordination of the Fall 2018 Internship Programme.

  • Support recruitment efforts for the Spring 2019 Internship Programme.

  • Communicate relevant information to all interns in the US-based offices with regard to cohort session details, schedules and weekly activities.

  • Research and develop engaging seminars relevant to the development of emerging professionals.

Storytelling and Content Intern:

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Editorial Work, Photography, Videography

World Vision's Content and Storytelling team is responsible for a digital library with thousands of stories with more than 300,000 images and videos. Presently, our team is undertaking an editorial review of these assets to refine the quality of the library and to highlight the best content.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Searching through the library, highlighting content for use by our staff in future campaigns.

  • Curating content refining the quality of content offered in our systems

  • Applying appropriate tags that match the subject of the content

VisionFund Microfinance Intern:

  • Eligible Candidates: Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: International studies, Agriculture, Public policy, Economics, Agricultural economics

VisionFund International (VFI) is the world's largest Christian microfinance network. For more than a decade VFI has been improving the lives of children across the developing world, providing small loans and other financial services to families struggling in poverty. As the microfinance subsidiary of World Vision, the worlds largest Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation, VFI works in 30+ countries through their network of affiliated microfinance institutions (MFIs) located across the globe in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Sharing the same vision as World Vision, VFI aims to provide life in all its fullness to children as their parents receive small loans, improve their businesses and increase in ability to care for their children as family incomes multiply.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake detailed desk review of best practice, trends and experiences in the finance of small holder farmers in the agricultural field.

  • Undertake detailed desk review of best practice, trends and experience in the finance of Water and Sanitation.

  • In each case to document, summaries, collect articles, identify potential partners, clearly document best practices and learnings.

  • Undertake interviews (phone or by email) with key informants in the US and further afield identified in the desk reviews.

  • Provide summary documents (PPT) on the state of the industry in these two fields and the likely trends.
