SUMMER 2018 WORLD VISION INTERNSHIPS (Monrovia, CA)

World Vision Internships provide a three-month opportunity for exceptional students and recent graduates ready to explore a career in the international relief and development sector. DETAILS & ELIGIBILITY

Dates: May 14, 2018 – August 10, 2018

Stipend: All US-based interns are paid a monthly stipend of $250

Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities are available (24-40 hours/week)

Location: Internships will be based in Los Angeles (Monrovia, CA)

Eligibility:

  • All candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Able to commit to a minimum of 24 hours per week

  • Eligible to work in the United States (US Citizen/resident or F1-student visa)

  • Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate/graduate program (within 2 years)

  • Adhere to the Christian Statement of Faith required by all World Vision International employees

SUMMER 2018 INTERNSHIPS (Monrovia, CA)

Child Protection and Participation Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program.

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Education, Teaching, Adult Learning, International Development, International Studies, Community Development, Communications, Graphic Design (highly recommended).

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and curating learning materials for child protection staff around the world to develop their knowledge, skills, and practical application of child protection competencies.

  • Conducting an analysis of how WV staff have used current competency development and learning materials and recommending revisions and adjustments.

  • Updating and organizing information on World Vision's intranet website for the child protection and child participation global network of practitioners.

  • Curating information, drafting articles, and managing the development of the monthly Child Protection and Participation Global Sector Update (a monthly newsletter).

Digital Health Monitoring and Evaluation Intern:

*This position can be located in either Monrovia, California or Federal Way, Washington

Eligible Candidates:

  • Current college student, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Public Health, Global Health, Mobile Health, Maternal and Newborn Child Health, Social Science

The Digital Health Monitoring and Evaluation intern will have the opportunity to initiate an annual data collection exercise to update an established global profile of Mobile Health (mHealth) deployments. The intern will foster learning and competency development among World Vision programme staff through general knowledge management work with emphasis on digital health (mHealth). In addition, the intern will support the thought leadership profile of World Vision’s mHealth work.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Update Global mHealth Summary (professionally designed 2-page overview) and factsheets describing all country-level mHealth deployments:

  • Prepare and deploy data collection tool to gather basic information about all mHealth deployments. Initiate data validation with country teams as needed. Compile data summaries per established formats.

  • Working with a World Vision publications manager, coordinate publication projects to ensure that design and content is reviewed by subject matter experts appropriately. Coordinate review and sign off processes for all publication products.

  • Complete preparation of country factsheets using a pre-designed template.

Conduct knowledge management activities including:

  • Monitor newly released resources useful for World Vision ICT programming linked to Health and Nutrition or other sector work. This may include toolkits or programming/M&E guidance, learning/training opportunities, conferences or other fora. Promote the use of appropriate resources by compiling and sending 2-3 newsletters directed to an established list of individuals interested in ICT4D.

  • Support preparation, organization and execution of mHealth Interest Group Meetings.

  • Support coordination and logistical needs for the delegation of World Vision representatives attending the Global Digital Health Forum in Dec 2018.

  • Gather logistical information and prepare briefing memo for delegates

  • Prepare presentation/side meeting tracker

  • Collaborate to update delegate briefing package

Financial Planning & Analysis Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Current college student.

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Finance, Accounting, Business.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding WV's budget and planning process.

  • Consolidating budget/forecast data in excel and performing financial analysis.

  • Entering data in Adaptive/budget system as needed.

Global Supply Chain Management Intern (2 positions):

World Vision's Global Supply Chain and Shared Services Team (GSCM) is dedicated to ensuring that World Vision’s programmes and responses around the world get the goods and services they need when needed, where needed and at the right price. The supply chain team manages thousands of suppliers, hundreds of purchasers and a complex logistics network.

Position #1 – GSCM Communications Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Current college student, recent college graduate.

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Communication, Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Writing, English, Project Management.

Global Supply Chain and Shared Services Team has been implementing market-leading procurement practices to World Vision. This project has introduced significant process change to the organisation. Tasked with saving the partnership money, the GSCM and SS team is working to create systems and processes that align with World Vision's Global Strategy- OurPromise 2030. The intern will report to GSCM's communication officer and work closely with the department's finance and administration manager in the creation of documents, training materials and presentations.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the team to create communication materials for internal WV audiences that communicates the team's mission and vision and ProVision priorities.

  • Helping to organise and write stories and information for internal publication to the GSCM community of practice and internal stakeholders.

  • Assisting in updating intranet information pages.

  • Helping drive engagement of internal stakeholders to collaborative spaces.

Position #2 – GSCM Operations Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program.

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Business Finance, Business Accounting.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing new Contract Management System for Global Procurement within Coupa (cloud-based procurement and supply chain software).

  • Designing numbering system for tracking and reviewing purposes.

  • Creating purchase orders in collaboration with suppliers.

  • Liaising with National and Regional Offices to receive contracts.

  • Developing monitoring system for contracts and renewals.

Governance Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Current college student or recent college graduate.

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Graphic Design, International Development/Public Policy, Business Administration, Communications, Spanish.

Global Governance's role is to support national boards and advisory councils to ensure they govern effectiveness, in alignment with World Vision's missions, vision and values. We support, equip and advise boards to adopt best practices while ensuring adherence to our Core Documents and Partnership policies. The Governance Department is actively working with National Offices and their boards to support their oversight structures and decision making.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing writing and creativity in graphics to develop a variety of resources such as short e-learning courses, case studies and other templates and tools that will be used by board members world-wide for training and development.

  • Analyzing existing resources to develop materials. Ability to create graphics and presentation visuals and learn new software programs is beneficial.

  • Reviewing and analyzing existing governance resources to contribute to a comprehensive online resource library and an archival version that will be available to boards and National Office staff worldwide.

  • Corresponding with National Office board contacts to research and collect board information, including member composition, meetings documents and evidence of performance.

  • Developing useful presentations and other resources for department.

*Spanish language skills are desirable as many of the resources are created for the Latin American National Offices

Human Resources Solutions Centre Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Current college student, recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program.

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Statistics, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Math, Analytics.

The Human Resources (HR) Solutions Centre is mandated to provide strategic solutions with proactive creativity and in response to critical organisational people opportunities and needs. We execute our mandate through internal Human Resources consulting on pieces of work and projects of significant scope and value to the Partnership under the following general categories: HR systems engineering, analytics and reporting, HR research, and global project management.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Data mining.

  • Statistical Modeling.

Learning and Development, Global Information & Technology Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Current college student, recent college graduate.

  • Appropriate Field of Study/Majors: Learning, Communications, Psychology, English, Creative Writing, Marketing.

The World Vision IT Learning and Development Team is responsible for equipping IT managers with skills to lead change and develop their teams; providing learning opportunities for all IT staff which create a culture of competence, domain expertise, and thought leadership; and providing learning opportunities for non-IT staff that give them the essential IT skills and knowledge to do their work effectively.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Developing eLearning modules based on previously-created content.

  • Assisting in the instructional design and development of new learning courses and content.

  • Providing learning and development administration by creating promotional materials and other resources and by helping with virtual instructor-led learning courses.

Marketing and Communications Systems Intern:

World Vision's Team Content is responsible for the storage of over over 300,000 valuable digital assets. These assets are the photos, videos and stories that fuel marketing, advocacy and communications across the global World Vision Partnership.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Project research and analysis of content use and patterns

  • Apply industry best-practices to our library metadata and tagging practices

  • Assist with improving the Digital Asset Management system to better meet user needs

  • Develop training materials for new technologies/systems

Social Media Employment Branding Intern:

As Social Media Employment Branding Intern for World Vision’s People and Culture (HR) Department, you are a highly creative and innovative individual with a knack for social and visual storytelling. You have an interest in spanning the bridge between organizations’ Social Media and Human Resource departments; ultimately helping shape individuals perceptions of company “culture” through the content posted across a career website, social media and external sites.

You will work closely with the Social Media & Employment Branding Specialist and the Creative Content and Graphic Design Coordinator to research, develop, and create compelling social media campaigns and marketing resources that motivate individuals to consider a career working for World Vision International around the globe. Main objectives for this internship will be to support the Employment Branding team with project organisation and administration and daily social media functions (post creation, scheduling and publishing) across World Vision’s Employment Branding channels (LinkedIn, Glassdoor, @WorldVisionJobs on Twitter, @WeAreWorldVision on Instagram).

University Recruiting & Internship Programmes Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the overall coordination of the Summer 2018 Internship Programme.

  • Supporting recruiting efforts for the Fall 2018 Internship Programme.

  • Communicating relevant information to all interns in the US-based offices with regard to cohort session details, schedules and weekly activities.

  • Researching and developing engaging seminars relevant to the development of emerging professionals.

Storytelling and Content Intern:

World Vision's Content and Storytelling team is responsible for a digital library with thousands of stories with more than 300,000 images and videos. Presently, our team is undertaking an editorial review of these assets to refine the quality of the library and to highlight the best content.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Searching through the library, highlighting content for use by our staff in future campaigns.

  • Curating content refining the quality of content offered in our systems

  • Applying appropriate tags that match the subject of the content

Technology for Development Intern:

Eligible Candidates:

  • Recent college graduate, graduate student or completed graduate program

  • Appropriate Fields of Study/Majors: Information and Communication Technologies for Development, Digital Health, Socio-Economic Development, Global Public Health

The Technology for Development Intern will undertake research on and contribute to existing WV knowledge base on ICT4D - Information & Communication Technologies for Development to catalyze achievement of education, health, agriculture, economic development goals globally.

The intern’s responsibilities will include:

  • Researching via internet, WV intranet and WV staff sources the types of mobile and digital technology solutions being used for education, health, agriculture, economic development, etc. in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Middle East/Eastern Europe toward a project catalogue.

  • Creating strategic summaries of the current state and opportunities for growth in scaling digital health, nutrition, agriculture, education, economic development within specific national contexts

  • Undertaking and documenting technology for development (ICT4D) landscape analyses and assessments of key countries where World Vision operates.

  • Expanding and refining content for ICT4D toolkits and guidance documents.

  • Integrating new and/or refined outputs detailed above into WV ICT4D Interest Group Intranet Site.

  • Supporting ICT4D Interest Group Events & Meetings.
