PURPOSE OF POSITION:
VisionFund is seeking a Financial Analyst to serve as an expert in financial data management and business intelligence. This position requires creativity, problem solving, financial knowledge and technical expertise. The role will create new and more efficient business processes in the finance function, design and develop database structures, spreadsheet models, and analytics. This role will be the VisionFund International (VFI) finance team’s Business Intelligence (BI) expert.
A key function of this role will be to design analysis tools that can clearly distill and explain complex issues. The jobholder will need to be persuasive and convincing in their communication about how the analysis works and why it is important. This role will often design processes and analyses for others, and will therefore need to have an aptitude of teaching others how to use the tools, and will be able to design tools based on a brief from colleagues.
Global Finance Data Management:
Serve as VFI Finance Business Intelligence (BI) expert for SQL, PowerBI, etc.
Design queries and reports to support and automate monthly/quarterly reporting.
Facilitate / manage process for changes required in finance databases resulting from new or updated data sources.
Accounting and Audit Analysis:
Develop and maintain analysis tools and reconciliation forms to improve month end close process and analysis capabilities.
Design/update year-end audit templates to improve data quality and ease of analysis.
Assist in financial analysis as required to support the annual external audit.
Lead or support change management process for any updates or changes to GL system.
Loan Portfolio Analysis:
Design/update VFI loans and borrowings databases to enable more sophisticated analysis capabilities.
Design and maintain analysis tools for foreign currency and hedge management.
Manage linkage between loan/hedge analysis and accounting requirements.
Assist Financial Planning and Analysis manager with maintenance and design for global forecast templates for VFI and MFIs.
Manage linkage of forecast data into relevant systems and templates for reporting and analyzing budget to actual data.
Ad Hoc Project Management and Analysis, and Personal Development:
Assist Controller and CFO in any ad hoc analysis as requested.
Act as project manager for special projects, as assigned.
Continuous development, learning and passing on knowledge, proactively spotting improvements that can be made to processes, collaborating in the team, taking part in team devotions and weekly chapel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Statistical Analysis.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills required, with competency in advanced functions and ability to create complex models and analysis.
Strong database management and large data analysis skills, including SQL, PowerBI, and Access.
A minimum of 5 years’ direct financial analysis experience - specifically including experience in designing databases (SQL, Access), and producing efficient and effective analyses through the use of Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, and advanced Excel/Access scripts (VBA, ODBC).
Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
Degree-level data analysis is required.
CFA, MBA, or CPA preferred.
International / Multinational experience preferred.
This position will be based in Monrovia, California at the GCLA office for World Vision International.
This new role will join the VFI Monrovia Finance team, a dedicated group of professionals currently charged with managing VFI’s global loan portfolio, accounting, reporting, budgeting and financial analysis.
This position may require some international travel, up to 10%.
