VisionFund International - Treasury Coordinator

VFI maintains a multi-million dollar treasury operation to facilitate all corporate transactions and on-lending business. The Treasury Coordinator supports the Portfolio Manager by processing payment transactions, compiling financial data, conducting collection of revenues and accounts receivable, and contributing to treasury system projects and seasonal reporting needs. The coordinator will have access to VFI banking platforms and confidential financial data, and will be held accountable for timely and correct processing of cash payments and receipts, maintaining accurate data, contributing to continuous improvement as VFI’s business grows, and preparing insightful and useful analysis for financial managers.


Transaction Processing:

  • Instruct wire payments as requested for VFI lending and investment transactions.

  • Prepare payment templates in banking system.

  • Utilize WVI Treasury System for intercompany transactions as instructed by the Portfolio Manager.

  • Conduct Blocked Party Screening on new vendors and business parties and coordinate KYC items as requested.

  • Facilitate accounts payable payments to vendors.

  • Act as primary user and expert in the Finance team – and globally acting as the system administrator – for ProVision procurement system, across VFI’s global centre. Answering enquiries. Proactively working with Shared Services team to resolve technical issues.

  • Working with WVI Treasury team on transactions - solving technical problems day to day, proposing solutions to improve the processes.

Revenue Collection and Accounts Receivable:

  • Prepare invoices and coordinate the billing process for collection of all revenue sources and accounts receivable.

  • Maintain Quickbooks platform and issue credit memo’s as instructed.

  • interface with accounting team to maintain accounts receivable subsidiary ledger – ensure the accounting team receives the information they need to keep ledger accurate.

  • Analyze collections process and systems and design/propose process improvements.

Data Processing:

  • Identify Cash receipts and disbursements, and record all activity in daily cash flow statement monitoring.

  • Record interest and expense transactions in the VFI Loan Database and resolve discrepancies and reconciling items by contacting the relevant staff.

  • Update VisionFund Tracking System (VFTS) for donations received and spent. Work with WVI IT to resolve technical issues.

Analysis and Projects:

  • Contribute to treasury and lending business projects under the guidance of the Portfolio Manager, including rationalization of Bloomberg system data and VFI banking system templates, reconciliation of migrated portfolio data, and other projects as requested.

  • Analyze complex financial information as requested by VFI Controller and Portfolio Manager, compiling models that will source data from VFI’s general ledger, banking and treasury systems, foreign exchange and portfolio tracking and audit submissions.

  • Support VFI Finance team with reporting data scrubbing and preparation of supporting schedules.

  • Contribute to annual audit preparation as requested by the Controller.

  • create and contribute content to manuals / process documents / training.

  • Provide ad hoc analysis as needed, for up to 25% of time.


  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience demonstrating equivalent level of numeracy, critical thinking and analytical ability.

  • The jobholder will need to have the proven ability to learn quickly in an environment with large amounts of information and will need problem solving skills and quantitative reasoning. Analytical skills and financial literacy will be critical for handling the analysis assignments in this role.

  • Proficient in MS Office, with strong MS Excel skills.

  • An organized and logical approach.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple goals and projects and to prioritize and execute deliverables.

  • Track record of proactivity and ability to work without close supervision.

  • Confident communicating at different levels within the organization – proven high quality verbal and written communication.

  • Good people skills with diplomacy and ability to influence senior managers in the MFIs, resolve problems together, and advocate for better ways of doing things.

  • Effective working in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to be cross culturally sensitive through an awareness of cultural differences.

  • At least 1 year of related professional experience or equivalent internship experience, preferably with exposure to corporate payment transactions and financial analysis.

  • Knowledge of financial and accounting processes, payment systems, etc, which could have been gained from work experience in treasury, accounting, supply chain or related fields.

  • Proven ability to learn how to deal with complexities such as multiple currencies, withholding taxes, transfer pricing issues, loan product and interest rate structures, etc.

  • Experience using accounting and treasury software systems.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar field.

  • 2-3 years of professional experience in a corporate treasury with access to banking systems.

  • Fluency in Spanish or French.

  • Familiarity with or background in Microfinance.

  • Related Experience in an NGO environment.

Work Environment:

  • This role does not require regular travel although there may be occasional travel required due to the international nature of the organization. Flexibility on working hours is required to contact people within wide time zone differences.
