Purpose of Position:
This role provides leadership, strategic thinking, and technical skills for building capabilities in marketing and resource development in Transitioning Field Offices (TFO), to enable National Directors and Marketing Directors to achieve their transition plans. Transitioning the TFO’s to become self sustaining is a critical strategic initiative for achieving Our Promise 2030.
This individual will leverage and build on current work, initiatives and assets from WVI, in addition to partnering with National Directors and Marketing Directors to enable development of local solutions.
*Note: The TFO offices are: Wave 1: Costa Rica, Chile, Romania, Thailand, and South Africa; Wave 2: Brazil, Mexico, Georgia, Armenia, Bosnia/Herzegovina. Wave 3: Additional field offices to be determined after the approval of Wave 2 plans (end of August 2018).
Lead the Building of Capabilities in the Following Areas:
Digital Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Cause Marketing.
Market positioning and brand development and awareness, including market data and data analysis.
Customer Relations Management (CRM).
Corporate development, including CSR, public-private partnerships, other.
Fundraising to cultivate high net-worth individuals.
Coaching and Mentoring:
Direct coaching & mentoring; identifying and directing appropriate WVI or SO/FO subject matter experts; identifying external subject matter experts; and other approaches.
Training in Marketing-Related Topics:
Lead the effective leveraging of existing WVI Global Marketing and Resource Development (MRD) training tools (eg Fundraising Academy, Fundraising Centre) and playbooks and adapt as necessary; On-line trainings via webex; F2F training workshops; TFO tracks alongside existing. Partnership meetings; and other approaches.
Marketing Tools and/or Materials:
Lead the effective usage of existing MRD best practices, tools and materials and adapt as necessary; Identify existing best in class marketing materials for local adaptation (such as WVUnited website platform).
Lead, with a strategic mindset and approach, in a coordinated approach with other functional areas (such as GCIT, GAM, GOSCI and P&C) to ensure resource development efforts with TFO’s are aligned with and supported across all functional areas.
Ensure the development of each office’s Ministry Funding Plan, in alignment with the approved transition plans, and help identify organizational structure, staffing and skills required to achieve Ministry Funding Plan. This includes providing strategic insights and direction into the Ministry Funding Plan to ensure it is well aligned with the country strategy, reflects local market conditions and competitive landscape, and in-depth knowledge of donor groups.
Lead the development and operationalizing of a TFO Marketing and Resource Development quarterly dashboard for measuring progress (and identify any areas of concern) for achieving the transition plan, and associated Ministry Funding Plan.
Identify, share and scale learnings and best practices across TFO and Field Offices that are generating significant levels of resources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or related field, with MBA preferred.
Extensive experience in leading marketing-driven businesses, with a proven successful track record.
Extensive experience and deep knowledge of subscription-based models, both financial and marketing aspects of the model.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Strong preference for fluency in Spanish.
Extensive experience in strategy and translating strategy into marketing plans and performance metrics.
Proven ability to deliver results through others via collaboration and influence, including experience communicating with and influencing senior leaders.
Advanced MS Excel and Powerpoint skills.
A senior experienced marketer with 10 to 12 years of experience in Marketing, managing teams, projects and performing analysis functions in a corporation, financial institution or non-profit organization (with preference for developing-world marketing experience).
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence change in a complex, multi-cultural organization.
Excellent Change Management skills.
Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
Experience working in an international or cross-cultural environment.
Strong attention to detail.
The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
