Drilling Coordinator

Job Description


In collaboration with the MIWASH field Coordinator, the drilling coordinator will plan, coordinate and ensure the strategic and successful implementation of geophysics investigations and studies, borehole drilling, and monitoring in all World Vision area development programs in Mali.

The drilling coordinator is fully responsible for the data collection and entry in the GIS system as related to boreholes as well as the management of the budget allocated to the drilling section of the project.

  • Coordinate and Facilitate the work of the geophysical engineer, hydro-technicians, to achieve the project objectives in their respective areas of responsibility.

  • Work closely with the MIWASH field coordinator, team leaders to prepare, plan and allocate budget to each activity planned under the hardware.

  • Work closely with the procurement officer and team leaders and ensure materials, tools, equipment needed for the project implementation are ordered on time with adequate specifications.

  • Work closely with the chief of park and ensure that all vehicles allocated to the hardware and equipment including compressors, site trucks, drilling rigs, water tankers are well maintained and repaired and spare parts available for replacements.

  • Work closely with the clusters managers and clusters WASH facilitators to ensure that communities are well prepared and ready for activity in their communities.

  • Provide adequate technical and strategic assistances to the team leaders for the successful implementation of the project’ activities in the field.

  • Ensure qualitative data collection and entry to GIS system as relevant to the Hardware.

  • Participate in the development of proposals, budgets, action plan, and conduct need assessment where necessary.

  • Ensure that good, respectful and fruitful relationship is developed and maintained with all project stakeholders including communities, ADPs, government and national and international NGOs or associations.

  • Develop tools and ensure their use off for project monitoring/evaluation, data collection and updates in and from the field.

  • Submit monthly quarterly report and update to the project manager.

  • Fulfil any other task in line with the mission and vision of WV upon request from the project manager, Integrated programs manager or country Director.


The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Minimum Qualification required BAC + 4 years in Geology, hydrogeology, Hydraulic or related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years’ experience in the field drilling.

  • Experience in well rehabilitation, pumping test and hand pump installation.

Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Good computer knowledge and practices.

  • Knowledge in Data processing.

  • Good planning and organizational skills.

  • Capacity of reflection and fast comprehension.

  • Working knowledge in proposal writing, concept paper, need assessment and monitoring and evaluation.

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Travel: 25 %

  • On call: 5%
