Development Facilitator - Faith and Development

Job Description

Position: Faith and Development Facilitator – ANEW Project (1)

Location: Lusaka

Purpose: To develop and integrate initiatives that nurture the spiritual formation of World Vision, the development of partnerships with churches and the faithful expression of holistic Christian witness which contribute to the flourishing of children, their families and communities so that they are equipped for sustained transformational development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Christian Formation

    • Develop and implement programmes for staff spiritual formation and Faith and Development related capacity building

    • Contribute to an ethos and culture in WV that is consistent with our Vision and Mission Statements, Core Values, Guiding Beliefs, and Policies

  2. Partnership with Churches and other Organizations

    • Develop and implement targeted strategies to engage churches, Christian agencies, and FBOs in our shared ministry with the poor

    • Implement Church Leader’s conferences and capacity building workshops to strengthen churches’ understanding and practice of holistic mission and to express Christian unity

    • Encourage the participation of churches in APs/Projects in program areas such as: holistic Christian witness, the spiritual nurture of children, response to HIV/AIDS, prayer mobilization and advocacy

  3. Christian Witness

    • Support AP staff in the integration of Christian Commitments and Transformational Development

    • Coordinate efforts to build the capacity of staff and church leaders for effective “Witness to Jesus Christ through life, word, deed and sign”

    • Support sponsorship staff and develop programmes for the spiritual formation of children, youth and their communities

    • Coordinate, supervise and implement all Faith and Development modules such as Channels of Hope modules Celebrating Families and Empowered Biblical Worldview

  4. General Areas

    • Work with management at ADP and national levels to develop and evaluate annual Christian Commitments strategies and operating plans

    • Submit , monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the Faith and Development Specialist and ANEW Project Manager

    • Do other duties as assigned by the Faith and Development Specialist to enhance WV’s Christian

    • Commitments

    • Conduct planned trips to ADPs to monitor, evaluate Faith and Development activities and share with stakeholders

QUALIFICATION/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Personal commitment to Christ and proven church/Christian leadership experience of 3-5 years

  • Diploma in theology or Social Science with Biblical training and understanding

  • Exemplary Christian character, interpersonal relationship skills and willingness to learn

  • Good understanding of and respect for diverse churches and Christian organizations in the country and ability to effectively work with churches with different doctrines and traditions

  • Understanding of development work

  • Good knowledge of WV’s ethos, philosophy of work, and core documents

  • Experience in organization capacity building

  • Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and report writing essential

  • Must have excellent communications, interpersonal, analytical, decision making, conflict management, negotiation, networking, liaison and donor engagement skills

  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and functional teams.

  • Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based 30% : field 70%

  • Travel: international as required.
