PURPOSE: Ensure accurate processing and management of WV Zambia employee salaries and benefits in line with WV Compensation and Benefits policies as well as local legislations regulating Compensation and Benefits issues. The position holder shall ensure zero tolerance to non-compliance with the local laws regulating income tax, social security/levies charged by-laws.
Process staff information for payroll purposes, such as advances, change of pay and deductions as approved by Director or Senior People & Culture Business Partner.
Maintain an up-to-date payroll system, ensuring that all new employees are included on the payroll and that exiting employees are removed from payroll immediately they leave the organization and once the input has been received.
Accurately processing of payroll and that all staff receive their correct salaries not later than 25th of every Month.
Ensure statutory payments to NAPSA and ZRA are paid before their due dates and ensure the Organization is not penalized for late payments.
Ensure all payments for NAPSA and ZRA returns are accompanied by correct employee schedules showing the correct employee contributions for the month.
Prepare Payroll Journals and reconcile Payroll Accounts.
Ensure all staff who leave the Organization are paid all their dues not later than their last day of working.
Ensure that tax computations for International staff (expatriates) is calculated correctly and paid on time to ZRA.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or part II ACCA/ CIMA, ZICA or equivalent professional qualifications.
Experience working with payroll package is a must.
Minimum three years working experience in working with payroll systems.
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, a practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls.
A good understanding of the ZRA Domestic Taxes Practice note no.1 and new changes affecting the treatment of income taxes.
Experience in dealing with on-line banking payment systems such as “Straight to Bank” and ZRA and NAPSA online payment system.
Experience in working with Micro soft office especially excel and various payroll systems such as micro payroll, Sage, VIP etc.
Hands on experience and able to resolve issues with statutory bodies like Napsa and ZRA on time and promptly
Ability to perform reconciliations for all payments made
Must possess good communication skills (oral and written)
Hard working and good analytical skills
