Job Description

POSITION: PROTECTION COORDINATOR

Purpose of the Position

The protection coordinator will serve as the technical lead and coordinator responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive child protection and safeguarding strategy for the girls’ education program.

Major responsibilities

  • Lead on integrating protection programming and standards within all program outputs (whole school development, non-formal education, girls’ leadership and community engagement)

  • Incorporating strategies aimed at strengthening the protection system, both formal and informal, to achieve and sustain program results.

  • Build and assure the capacity of all partner organizations in child safeguarding and protection standards

  • Develop and manage the relationships with the Ministry of Social Welfare and other critical stakeholders to assure program results.

  • Contribute to the consortium technical working group towards the integration of strategies and standards and monitoring to achieve program results.

  • Conduct periodic assessments in accordance with guidance and standards set by the donor, GoZ and partner organizations.

  • Take shared responsibility for the development of project operational workplans and to ensure alignment of project activities and budget spend.

  • Lead the development of policy briefs, technical reports, and other knowledge products in the areas of child safeguarding and protection. Communicate key lessons learned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • At Degree social work/social sciences or equivalent.  Masters will be an added advantage.

  • 5 years’ experience in protection programming

  • Detailed understanding of current child protection issues and systems.

  • Ability to work with teams, communicate and coordinate with government departments.

  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and write proficiently in English
